Neko

Got this from Sharon.
It looks a little creepy,
But it makes me laugh!

And February Made Me Shiver...

Every time I was
Reminded of CTY.
I miss it dearly.

It's a real pity
That I'll never again breathe
That fresh Skidmore air.

And no longer will
I dance to the Canon with
My nerdy classmates.

Nor will I share that
Ben and Jerry's bliss during
Those Sunday town trips.

I'll miss the ramen
Parties, disco staff, glowstick
Raves, and grass orgies.

Five lanyards hanging
From my bed often bring me
Back to these summers.

Although our music
Died on that woeful last day,
Together we'll live.

I'll see you again.
Until then – I like you, love
You, CTY you.

Intermission

A brief hiatus
I shall take until I find
Something more to write.

Dream Come True

I'm now studying
Classically with a voice
Teacher at Colby.

Today I had my
First lesson. She is making
Me sing soprano.

I really don't have
A problem with that, until
I try a high G.

You know what's tricky?
Learning how to pronounce words
In Italian.

I still love it though.
I've been waiting for lessons
For such a long time.

Ever since last year's
Musical, I desired
To improve my voice.

Hey guys, I'll keep you
Updated on this journey.
Arrivederci!

MLIA?

Yesterday I had
Lunch in the student center
Of Colby College.

At the next table
Were students in costume with
Blueberry muffins.

One held a camera,
One spoke in British accent.
One just sat eating.

All of a sudden,
The third one burst from his seat
And tore off his shirt.

He grabbed a huge bag
Filled with "Blueberry muffin
Tops" and ran outside.

Screaming, he opened it
And drowned himself in cereal.
(I laughed to myself)

Inside, British guy
remarked: "Now that's a blast of
Blueberry flavor."

Thank You With All My Heart

What a sweet message
You selected in that card.
Krieg, I feel so loved.

The silver necklace
With the clear pastel pink heart
I shall wear always.

Now those Lindt chocolates
Will not be as fortunate
To last that long. Mmmm... ;)

I'll never forget
Our fun afternoon skating,
Trying not to slip!

Thank you for holding
Me so tightly when I was
Caught by gravity.

You must remember
I would not hesitate to
Catch you from falling.

Nerdy Valentines

Roses are red
But can also be pink
Incomplete dominance
Is cool, don't you think?

My Early Valentine's Day Message

A sweet little girl
Sat on the couch with a bag
Full of Valentines.

I remember those
Old times exchanging candy
And hand-drawn letters.

She gave me a heart:
A yellow conversation
Heart with pink writing.

The heart said: "Love Him."
Katie, I won't let you down,
Or the heart, or him.

Last Day Before Vacation!! YES!!

First Block

AP Calculus
Problems are really obscure.
Can't wait for the test... XP

Integrals and such
Are actually fun to solve.
It's just area!

On the other hand
I have not yet memorized
The Mean Value Theorem.

Got our quizzes back,
But the one I got wrong was
On the MVT.

I ended up with
A 102, scaled ten points!
This will help a lot.

Second Block

Study hall – math lab:
Didn't do calculus though;
I studied instead.

Procrastination
Is my great downfall for I
Read manga as well.

Multiple choice tests
Are hard in AP Bio.
I did better though.

I knew about plants
And how they extend to light,
Kinda like my poem. (see archives)

And how the flowers
Are responsible for the
Plant reproduction.

Third Block

A Farewell to Arms
Test was today and I thought
The quotes were easy.

A paper is due next.
Thank goodness I have the whole
Vacation for it!

The courageous and
The weak make a pretty good
Thesis topic, eh?

While the soldiers died
Physical deaths, Henry and
Catherine suffered more.

(Ha ha, I think I
Am starting to cheat with these
Haiku syllables...)

Fourth Block

To me, vacation
Has already started now.
I'm drifting off...

Didn't read for class
AGAIN! I definitely
Must catch up later.

I will be spending
My afternoon at Krieg's house;
What a great Friday.

The Great Depression:
How was the economy
Affected? Hmm? Hmm?

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Soy muy cansada.
Must keep studying... must... keep...
Aye, pollo frito...

Junior Year

Harvard, Dartmouth, Princeton, Williams,
MIT, Wellesley, Colby, Bowdoin --
Colleges I will apply
Wonder if they'll accept or deny...

Punishment

I am not allowed
To text anymore at night.
I must study more.

I'll try hard to find
A way around this "nonsense"!
How about email? XP

Mushy Gushy

I really enjoy
The warmth of your close embrace
And your gentle smile.

Never expected
To go crazy with each touch
Of your hands to mine.

I really like you,
As little hydrogen likes
Her friend oxygen.

I hope these haikus^
Don't embarrass you too much.
Ha ha ha ha ha. <3

Boo Radley and WWI

Playing Jeopardy
For To Kill A Mockingbird
In our English class...

Danielle and I lost.

24-point scale:
Worst US test grade ever...
Only 83.

Infinite campus
I check each hour, each day.
Yes, I'm obsessive.

Bioloh-Geee...

Today we had our essay test on plants,
An AP free response on angiosperms:
"What is their mode of reproduction like?"
and "How do seeds disperse and gametes fuse?"
(actually iambic pentameter this time)

There's this song I've kept
About plants that I'd written
Way back freshman year.

I want to finish,
And maybe add melody.
Here it is so far:

As I sit here in my garden abode,
inhaling carbon dioxide,
Water is siphoned through my roots
as my stomata are open wide.
But even these two molecules aren't enough
on this dark and dreary night;
I patiently wait for the morning to dawn,
'cause I know I can't live without light.
You are the light to my photosynthesis.
I feel warmth under your rays.
Although I miss you during the nights,
You easily brighten my days.

If you have advice,
Please, please feel free to comment.
I'm out of ideas.

Study Hall

I'm in study hall
With a very great person!
Not studying though...

Good Morning!

Sweet maple syrup
Cascades like flowing stream
Over my pancakes.

In the library,
I sit, quickly finishing
My DBQ.

Thank you, special guy
For that wonderful drawing.
How thoughtful of you.

When school is done, I
Look forward to walking home
Together with you.

And Crunchy...

Saltine crackers are
A suitable study snack.
Both things are quite dull.

School So Far

AP Cal
Sines, cosines, tangents,
Integrals, derivatives...
I do love them all!

My calculator
Has many awesome programs.
I wrote them myself!

Our problem sets
Are so long and tedious.
I don't derive drunk.

APUSH
Dear Mr. Wickman,
Stop assigning DBQs!
They make my brain hurt.

A-PUSH DBQs:
I know I must practice them,
But I'd rather sleep.

President Wilson
Was a very stubborn man
With those Fourteen Points.

AP Bio
My cat's name is Mort.
It doesn't sit, come, or play;
I'm dissecting it.

Carotene is red,
Chlorophyll is green.
I know they're essential,
But plants are obscene.
(I know, not a Haiku...)

I failed the last test.
I'm determined to study
so much more this time.

Mastering Bio,
your multiple choice questions
can be so obscure

English

Oh, Catherine Barkley,
You excessive romantic,
Henry was bad news.

Panache, verve, elan.
Adroit, adept, deft.
I love synonyms.

My Idea

This is my idea:
I shall talk about my days,
Each post in haiku.

I hope this works out!
If it ever gets boring,
I'll change the meter.

5-7-5

Okay then... first post...
I don't know what to say yet:
Boo-ron-too-saur-us...
